Video for today and tomorrow
The AVR-X4400H comes with 8 HDMI inputs, one on the front panel, and 3 HMDI outputs. Rare in an A/V receiver, every one is ready for the full range of Ultra-HD visual enhancements and protocols. You get support for 4K/60Hz with HDCP2.2; High Dynamic Range and Dolby Vision for vastly improved color and detail in shadows and bright light; and Hybrid Log Gamma, ready for tomorrow’s advanced broadcasts. Whether you hook up an Ultra-HD disc player, stream 4K from Netflix or connect your Xbox One S or PlayStation PS4 Pro, the AVR-X4400H makes it look its best on the best screens.
Over-the-top surround …
The X4400H builds in Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D surround software, as well as enough amplifiers for a full nine-channel-plus-sub system for each, and offers preamp outputs for a full 11 channels (with separate stereo amp). With all of these pinpoint-placement, object-oriented surround formats, you can expect the ultimate theatrical experience with precise localization of sounds all around the room. And Auro-3D adds impressive effects to your favorite music, games and older movies.
… And ready to deliver a punch
Denon engineered all nine channels as discrete units, each packing high-current transistors. It delivers a full 125 watts per channel or more at ultra-low distortion, across the audible frequency range, into all your speakers – even tough to drive 4-sohm loads. If you have audiophile speakers, you can configure the front pair in bi-amp mode (lows and highs each getting their own amp channel). And if you don’t need nine speakers in one room, you can run up to three separately controlled zones (from line or speaker outputs), anywhere in your house.
Tuned to match your room and ears
Denon’s high-end receivers all come equipped with the advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32 system. Just use the included microphone to take a few in-room measurements, and the system adjusts each speaker’s response, volume and time delay for the actual environment. The X4400H’s full Audyssey suite includes SubEQ HT, to make sure multiple subwoofers are working in harmony; Low Frequency Containment, to reduce wall-rattling; and Dynamic EQ and Volume, to deliver the best audio at any loudness level. And for still finer control, the unique MultEQ Editor App (available at additional charge for iOS and Android) lets you see every automatic Audyssey setting and tweak to your taste.
Plays well with others
The X4400H interfaces (OK, we’re still not sure that’s a real verb) with today’s smartest homes and most complex digital/analog systems. Start with the full array of inputs and outputs, including five digital inputs – two optical, two coaxial and one front-panel USB; five analog video and audio inputs plus a pair for your turntable/cartridge; and even component video inputs and output for your legacy equipment. Add an IR remote control input and output, two power trigger outputs and RS-232 and IP integration to home automation, and you’ve got a receiver ready to conduct your whole home orchestra, or just play its part.
Wireless with HEOS and the celestial jukebox
The X4400H is a member of Denon’s HEOS family of wireless multi-room equipment. That means, with the free HEOS app for iOS, Android and Kindle, you get one-touch access to the full range of online jukeboxes – including Pandora, Spotify, Napster, Tidal, SoundCloud, iHeart Radio and TuneIn. Easily stream music files from your home network. Control HEOS speakers anywhere in the house from that single app. And, with Bluetooth, dual-band Wi-Fi and Apple AirPlay all built in, the connection between the X4400H and your devices is flexible, quick and seamless.
Streaming and high-res
The digital-to-analog circuitry in the X4400H is engineered to deliver the finest sound reproduction. Advanced 32-bit D/A converters in every channel, AL32 multichannel digital decoding and sophisticated sound-field processing all combine to squeeze the last drop of quality from every sound source. And those powerful processors can handle today’s full range of audio files and formats, including ALAC, FLAC, WAV, MP3 and AAC, up to high-resolution 192kHz/24 bit, and DSD up to 5.6 MHz.
All this and easy to use, too
Denon works hard at making things simple. The X4400H’s setup is on-screen, step by step and menu driven. Audyssey’s processing is automatic. Save favorite sources and settings to four Quick Select front-panel buttons. Use the full-featured remote control, or download Denon’s free 2016 AVR Remote App (iOS and Android) for intuitive touch control from phone or pad. Or just ask Alexa: Like all HEOS home entertainment products, the X4400H can be controlled by your voice and Amazon’s intelligent assistant.
